The day the Katharians came home
From midday until late evening, past students of every age streamed back through the gates of Kataragama President’s Central College: teachers and pupils of the 1970s beside the class of 2025, families, friends and batch-mates who had not met in decades.
Ten volunteers registered every arrival on phones and tablets, photographs were taken on the spot, and five minutes after each registration the new arrival appeared on the 12-foot LED wall, with the live Battle of the Batches ranking running alongside. By the close, 726 past students from 56 batches had signed the register.
The following morning, 18 September, the members met to establish the Association formally, adopt its Constitution and appoint its first office-bearers.
